Fencing Camps
There will be a mid-winter break camp the week of February 17 - 21. Contact us if you would like to be notified when more information is posted.
The 2024 summer camp season is over.
Registration for 2025 summer camps will open by February 1, 2025. There will be camps every week for kids age 8 - 16. Most fencing camp times will be 9:00 am - 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm- 4:00 pm. We hope to be able to offer a few weeks of all day camp.
We teach all 3 types of Olympic fencing: epee, foil, saber and focus on one each week at camp. There is no ‘best’ one to start with and most skills learned in one translate to the others. We encourage students to take multiple weeks of camp and try more than one type especially if they are interested in pursuing our ongoing fencing classes after camp. Summer camp is the time of year with the most opportunity for kids with no experience to try fencing.
Students learn footwork, bladework and fencing tactics in a fun and safe environment. In addition to drills and bouting they will participate in a variety of fencing activities and games to re-enforce the actions and strategies of fencing and to increase co-ordination and balance. This is an active camp, but fencing is not solely a physical sport and many kids enjoy the metal challenge it also has to offer.
No prior fencing experience is necessary, except for the advanced camps. All fencing equipment is provided and assigned to each student, not shared.
